3 Tips to Maximize Your Wedding Day Details!

Cricket Hill Ranch Wedding_07

When I’m shooting a wedding, one of my FAVORITE parts of the entire day are the detailed shots! I think your details set the theme and style of the entire day. Since I shoot them at the very beginning of the day, it also allows me to get warmed up & my creative thoughts flowing! I have come to find that there are 3 key tips that will help your detailed shots come out exactly how you want them to in your pictures!

  • Gather everything BEFORE I get to you!!!

Oh, this is SO IMPORTANT!!! After trial and error, I have found out myself that I always end up getting my favorite shots when I’m not having to scramble to gather and find everything before I shoot them. If I can come in, give you a great big hug and just grab the bag with all of your details and go – that gives me more time to find the perfect spot to photograph your special little details & this also gives me more time to stylize all of your details together as well!

  • Coordinate Your Details!

This tip may be because I photograph things/people for a living…but maybe not :p But I always think of how things are going to look in a blog post or an album design before I shoot them. Is that weird? I sure hope not. haha! It’s just my thing! I always think of how I can make details flow together – whether it be by color coordinating or finding a piece of fabric or space that I can keep the look consistent. For example, I love when brides bring me their invitation suite for me to incorporate. It shows your style as a couple and adds a special touch of YOU!

  • Grab the Bouquet!

I’m leaving the best for last here. All of these points are very important in my eyes…but having the BOUQUET is my all time top favorite request for my brides on their wedding day! You will be in contact with the florist to let them know what time to arrive, so – after creating your timeline with you, we can come up with the perfect time in order to have your bouquet delivered to the venue/spot where I will be shooting your details. Don’t worry – they will be kept in water when I’m not shooting your flowers ! You are probably going to spend a pretty penny on your bouquet – so why not have it while I shoot your details in order to get the most beautiful pictures of your bouquet as possible? Seems like the most logical thing to me! 🙂 Plus, this will add a lot of extra oomph & color to your detail shots!
