Portraits are a must on your wedding day! But what if it’s raining? *GASP*
I don’t know if photographers are prone to thinking outside of the box – but I do think that you will eventually end up doing so after having a number of variables thrown your way. 🙂 Since the start of shooting weddings, I’ve had several instances where the weather was a gazillion times less than ideal. Yes, it can be a bit frazzling! Ultimately, you have to think outside of the box & work with the location that you are at. It may not be the easiest task to do when there are torrential downpours around you, but somehow, you must manage! Keep calm & shoot on! For instance, I shot at a church recently & during the ceremony, it started raining cats and dogs. Immediately after the ceremony, we had scheduled for the bride and grooms portraits – but it was still raining when the time came & there wasn’t enough sunlight outside to wait it out. (Oh, NOOO! I was sort of pouting on the inside). But with so many factors to be weighed throughout the day – the possibility of rain was something I thought of much earlier on. It was one of those “worse case scenario” type of things (I promise, it’s not as depressing as it sounds though lol) & JUST INCASE we were to run out of sunlight or in our case…rain (and lots of it) We had a backup plan! Problem solved. Want to know how we dodged that bullet? As soon as I got the venue, I scoped it out and weighed my options for those not-so-great scenarios – like rain. I found the perfect spot with an architectural flare that ended up looking pretty cool & it gave us enough coverage to keep us dry & my bride & groom happy!
